The Ask
The Ask
Native Land Digital approached us to redesign and enhance their website with the following goals:
- Clearly communicate the organization’s mission, values, and impact to a diverse, global audience
- Create a welcoming, intuitive entry point to their mapping tools and educational resources
- Improve information architecture for maps, research references, APIs, and blog content
- Support both technical users (developers, researchers) and non-technical users (educators, general public)
- Deliver a visually rich, modern design that reflects land, water, and connection without overwhelming content
- Ensure performance, accessibility, and scalability for a high-traffic, map-driven platform

Discovery & Strategy
We worked closely with the Native Land Digital team to understand their audiences, content priorities, and long-term goals. Special care was taken to ensure the site structure and language aligned with Indigenous-led storytelling and knowledge sharing, rather than a traditional corporate framework.
Information Architecture & UX
We reorganized content into clear, purpose-driven sections such as:

Visual Design
The design approach balanced modern digital aesthetics with organic, land-inspired visuals:
